Beached Whale – 5.12b

20m / 66ft, 9 bolts

Description:

*TOP 100* Stick-clip the first bolt and execute a gnarly boulder problem that leads to the roof. A wild left traverse using all form of trickery leads to a sneaky rest and a committing finish. It's not over 'till it's over. In climbing a "beached whale" is a very inelegant way of surmounting the lip of a roof or boulder problem, something akin to dragging your carcass over the lip when all else fails. 9 bolts (20m) Prep: Cody Leyden; FA: Adam Tutte, 2011.

there is an easy way of doing the boulder problem at the start and a hard way. I climbed two feet, fell down, went up the bottom boulder a different way then onisghted to the chains, i hate that this is a redpoint. Really funky

Full body workout, my legs are now sore. Haven’t heel/leg hooked and knee bar’d like that in a minute. Start boulder didn’t feel that hard
