The Stand (Direct Var) – V5

Description:

There's some confusion about this problem. The 2004 guidebook reads: "10 feet of left arete on opposing sidepulls. Move to a crappy sidepull with right hand and climb to top. Finish at the peak." If you followed the line as described in the 2018 guidebook (sit start, traverse right, then climb up), please see The Stand Traverse.

DO NOT LOG THIS IF YOU DID THE TRAVERSE. THIS IS FOR THE DIRECT LINE

This climb is different from the stand traverse with gos right along the bottom then up on jugs. For this climb (the original stand) you go straight up from the start using a drop knee to get to a very sharp pocket crimp then out to a right hand Gaston then top out. Super cool classic line.

direct ver v5/6. Dont log the trav under this climb please. flashed the easier version of the direct which involves dead pointing to that sick pinch edge after a few Trav moves. Then Scott's straight up version (similar move) took a bunch more goes and felt like a hard v6. Thanks guys!

Little confusing as to what's in and what's out. Very technical climb though, solid otherwise
