Frontside 180 – 5.8 ↓
Description:
A ten pitch route (or less if you choose to link the shorter pitches) starting just south of the main Electric Avenue area. From the final anchors hike about thirty metres uphill to the actual summit of Mt Chek and descend the trail on the east side, passing the Monastery, to the base.

Second multi-pitch on my first day out multi-pitching! Led the last (really) easy pitch but seconded everything else. Had an unexpected foot slip on pitch 1 literally as I was saying how easy it was. -

Great easy multipitch. Probably the new go-to for beginner leaders getting into multipitch climbing. Climbed in three blocks, linking pitches 1-3, 4-6, and 7-10 with a 70m rope and a bit of simuling on the first block. Second and third blocks seemed to make it fine with the 70. No one else on the route, ~90 minutes car-to-car. -

Simul soloed (a duet?) up to Rock of Ages, climbed there until it started to rain, then soloed the rest before dropping down to the Monastery. Makes for a way more enjoyable approach than the trail.

2019-07-16Linked it into 3 pitches with Kim, which is not recommended due to the insane rope drag. Simul-climb if you're confident at this grade. Amazing how much effort must have gone into cleaning this. THANKS! Felt very easy for 5.8....

Wow this route is so clean and immaculate! Pitches can be combined to make it a pretty fast ascent - Graham and I did this after work in Vancouver on a weeknight, with a stop to do some cragging half way up ;) . Delightful views along the way as well. We grouped it into 3 pitches by ledges, I took P 1 and 3.

Swung leads with Tony first time up this and made a detour to Rock of Ages and did a few pitches before finishing it. Since then, have done it multiple times with folks new to multis. Excellent learning multi with optional walk offs (or 10b variation) if too busy.

Super fun. Gonna get pretty crowded I imagine. Simul climbed and did it in 3 pitches, pretty fun this way.

Skipped about 2/3 of the bolts since most of the climbing is 5.6-7. A few sections get up to 5.8. All pitches are well protected despite the easy grade. Great first multipitch route for first timers, but not much exposure as one would expect for 10 pitches.

Best beginner multipitch in Squamish. Short approach, luxuriously tight bolting, close stations so your partner is always in view, bail chains everywhere except the last few pitches, and walk off descent past the amazing Monastery crag. Tremendous job by those that put this up. I had a lot of fun on it. -
Climbed with Tess, Jay, Kye and my son James. So fun. -
