Mara crags is a great place to climb in the heat of the summer because it is north facing and shady.
These crags offer some of the hardest sport climbing in the shuswap, with some of the routes being open projects.
Trail Head:
The parking for the crag is located approximately 12.1 km south of where
Highway 1 and Highway 97A intersect in Sicamous, and 17.6 km north of
the bridge that crosses the Shuswap River in Grindrod on Highway 97A.
The safest parking is a pullout on the lake side approximately 300 yards
south of the trail head. The trail starts behind the south end of a 10ft high
large cement brick wall (at the cairn) and heads straight up the steep hill. There is a sign along with cairns and ropes that will guide you up the hill to the bluffs. Approximately a 5 minute approach to the lower crag.
