Laos
Description:
Laos has emerged as a premier Southeast Asian climbing destination, defined by extensive karst topography that creates hundreds of sheer limestone towers across the landscape. The climbing is heavily concentrated around Thakhek in the central region, where development has yielded thousands of bolted sport routes ranging from accessible slabs to steep, stalactite-heavy overhangs and extensive cave systems. The rock is generally sharp, featured limestone requiring good footwork on vertical faces and sustained endurance on steeper terrain. The primary climbing season runs from November through March during the drier, cooler northeast monsoon, while the rainy season makes many routes unfeasible due to seepage and slick rock.
