  robertshortt:   Start early, 3-4 AM. Do not go with more than one other person, unless you are highly efficient. Do not waste any time. Bring more water than you think. Bring a water filter. Bring sunblock. On the first pitch, put a green .75 camalot in the roof and drop low and move left to do the friction traverse on the slab. There is a keyhole for security and a thin rail for feet. With a 70m rope you can combine the last two pitches.

  I see why they call it ‘Snake Hike’ since it’s a 23k round trip. The climb is pretty cool though, and standing on top of half dome is even cooler.

  World class climb. A truly amazing all day experience begins with half of the Half Dome trail, a magical climbers trail that skirts lost lake and a non-trivial approach to the base. The dike itself is such an amazing feature, and the end result is one of the best views on the planet.
