The Horticulturist – 5.12c

25m / 82ft, 11 bolts
FA: Toby Foord-Kelcey - 2021-05-12

Description:

The big obvious overhanging line at far right, above the platform. Named for Sally Foord-Kelcey, 1949-2021, prolific British garden designer trained at the Royal Horticultural Society.

This is not a gym climb. Many of the holds are exfoliating flakes that will rip off one day. Wear helmets to climb and belay, and do your own risk assessment.

Got it on my 6th try, so I’m really happy with that. Thanks Lotte and Lukas for the support.

Tricky boulder problem right off the bat to a nice sit down rest. Then some very flowy moves to a little red point crux right at the top. Amazing and aesthetic route! THE line at the hideout!

Perfect flow on my send go. Used the crimp at the top crux. Thanks to Ana and Remy for belaying over 3 days. Triple send day with A and R too, on their climbs. So stoked!

Tried it 3 or 4 years ago and never came back. Did it first try today thanks to good beta from Emilisa, Colin and Kim. Really fun route!
