The Horticulturist – 5.12c

25m / 82ft, 11 bolts
FA: Toby Foord-Kelcey - 2021-05-12

Description:

The big obvious overhanging line at far right, above the platform. Named for Sally Foord-Kelcey, 1949-2021, prolific British garden designer trained at the Royal Horticultural Society.

This is not a gym climb. Many of the holds are exfoliating flakes that will rip off one day. Wear helmets to climb and belay, and do your own risk assessment.

Sandbagged ourselves by going in the morning when it was straight in the sun. After it went into the shade early afternoon, we both sent. Fun flowy climb with an early boulder crux and a powerful finisher

What a phenomenal climb! Deserves top 100 IMO. That lower crux felt impossible until I had the right beta. The pump was real for me at the top, but managed to take it to the chains today.

Wheeee! So much fun, distinct cruxes and great movement. Nice and easy with perma draws and stays dry in light rain :)

Quick rainy day send thanks to Martin's super-soaker beta spray. Aesthetic climb that felt like a V4/5 moonboard problem followed by an 11+ overhanging jug haul. The only knock is the no hands rest, which I took full advantage of. Happy to be outside again!
