Free Thinker, 5.10d Sport, 5 pitches, 120m (FA: David Lussier & Bob Sawyer, August 2025)
Pitch 1: 5.10c/d, 20m, 7 bolts Moderate climbing on steep featured slab leads to a short but powerful overhanging section. Belay from a two-bolt anchor at a small stance.
Pitch 2: 5.10b/c, 29m, 9 bolts Step left and climb up steeply on interesting holds. Hand jamming skills useful to get through the crux. Continue up and left on lower angle terrain, paralleling a broken dike, to a two-bolt belay at a small stance on the steeper right-hand wall.
Pitch 3: 5.10c, 15m, 6 bolts A short but wildly exposed traverse pitch. A powerful crimpy start up and right, followed by an insecure traversing sequence with sloping holds, to a balancy/exposed wrap around finish. Belay on a small ledge from two bolts.
Pitch 4: 5.10d, 27m, 11 bolts Excellent sustained climbing on beautiful steep wall. Two bolt belay on sloping ledge.
Pitch 5: 5.10c, 27m, 10 bolts More beautifully exposed climbing, passing a thin balancy section, leads to lower angle terrain and eventually a belay platform with a two-bolt belay.
Descent: 4 rappels with a single 60m rope. Bypass the traverse pitch by rappelling from the top of pitch 3 to the top of pitch 1 via a 27m nearly free hanging rappel.
Note: There is a closed project leading directly up the overhanging arete from pitch 2 to the end of the pitch 3 traverse. Thanks for respecting this closure.
