  Used the arete as per the guidebook and found crimping the non hold dishes along with the tiny micro feet to be quite hard. Shoe choice makes a difference for sure and fresh edges help. Grade wise I have no idea since it's a sandstone slab and I'm not familiar with either slab boulders of that grade or sandstone. Easy 8 hard 7? Guide book calls it 8?

  So psyched!! Fell off the top like 20 times in October. Brushed it up (thanks Minnesota boys!) and crushed it. So satisfying to make this thing go from impossible to get off the ground, to cruising on up! Also, shoe choice is insanely important for this problem...

  It seems that this climb can be much easier if you stay more right and don't use the arete. This time I did it staying on the arete and it was much harder. I'll take V7 for it.

  cool slab moves. chose not to use the arete...same grade? whatever, sweet climb...very ticky tacky and wrenching tension to stay on...friction crimps work in 50 degree temps too!

  how do you grade a slab? Is it for a v8's worth of effort, or do you ask if this was on a route would it be a 13b crux, I propose if this was on a route, it would exist on a route NO ONE would ever climb so that is irrelevant. I don't think I can call it V5 though, because I expended so much time and energy to send it-compared to slabby v5's in the south even this would be a sandbag so I settled on v7. Whatever.
