The Contrarian – 5.12c

Description:

*07/27/2025 The second permadraw's gate is really stiff and tends to stay open after you clip it. It probably just needs a little oil.*

Follow the shattered dyke to a mid-height ledge. Cross the small overhang then traverse right into the crux groove. Amazing rock. Lateral thinking helps.

An absolute gem of a climb! Psyched to snag it on my second go today after my first attempt felt all over the place, and I still had no real plan for the final four moves. Somehow managed to hold it together and clip the chains!

Really fun boulder sequence up top with smeary feet! 3rd go after my foot slipping off at the top going for the jug..

Spectacular route! Great flow from the very start to the very finish on really awesome rock. Slippery feet through the top sequence took me a bit to figure out. Prob one of the funnest climbs I've experienced so far at this grade. If you're short - either extend that last draw (the clipping stance is heinous if you can't reach it from the jug) or skip it altogether.
