Whirlpool Point refers to a point of land projecting into a bend of the North Saskatchewan River from the base of Whirlpool Ridge. The Whirlpool Point Loop, and Whirlpool Ridge hiking trails can be found in the excellent David Thompson Highway Hiking Guide (2nd Edition).
Travel Highway 11 until you come to a paved pullout/parking area on the North side of the highway (52.003466, -116.464749) approximately 21km from Saskatchewan River Crossing, or approximately 72km from Nordegg. Park (considerately) at this pullout, and follow the well established trail that leads North (up) from the East end of the pullout.
