Shady Bird

Description:

High above the valley floor way up the Norns. This adventure crag is action packed and hosts some of the most brilliant compact rock you’ll encounter up the Ladybird drainage. Sure it’s a bit of a pain of a drive but you’ll be rewarded with some of the best 5.10/11 in the valley. Look out for the black varnish, so good..

Directions:

At 11km from the Norns/Pass Creek junction take a sharp right and continue up hill on Norns Fsr (straight goes to the Valhalla Boulders and continues up Ladybird Creek). Head up the Norns Rd for 2.5km. Find a faint shoulder to park as the road levels out and locate the cairns and trail steeply down to the crag hiding under the road. Total of about 10 minutes hike down to the main crags. There are a few pullouts around, dont block the road..
