Description:

Shady gully flanked by rock walls on both sides. Large trees and steep sides mean that routes here will be in the shade at any time of day. Paul Weismiller climbed many lines in the area in the early 80's so many first ascents may not be!

Located between Maple crag and the main upper wall. It is possible to ascend directly up the talus from the boulderers trail just past the bridge. The best way is to ascend the climbers trail to the main wall. Once you pass the base of Kandahar and trail up to Tycho ledge, stay very low and traverse the hillside just above the talus. Round the corner after the waterfall on the right side of the cirque. You will pass one gully and climb over a small rise. On the other side you will see the clean wall and sweeping crack of 'Shady groove'
