Directions to Stage Fright V5 and Les Jolies Choses V8 (River Crossing)

From Highway 14, drive north on Sooke River Road for 5 km until you reach start of the Sooke Potholes Provincial Park. Park at Parking Lot 2 (the one with the two outhouses). There is good signage for all the parking lots. You also need to pay for parking $4 for the day and the lot can fill up by 1030am on summer weekends.
Near the beginning of the left branch (paved section) of Parking Lot 2, there is a metal gate and a "Tow Away Zone" sign. Take this scrubby, short trail downhill for 30m until it intersects a well manicured gravel trail. Turn right onto the gravel trail and head downhill for 1 minute. At the intersection there will be a signpost - turn left and head towards the "Potholes Viewpoint" on the “Riverside Trail”. After another min turn right to access the viewpoint that looks down on the river.
You can get down to the river crossing location but using a rocky descent on the left hand side or downstream side of the viewpoint.
The crossing location is located upstream or a cascading bedrock section. Stage Fright V5 is visible from the crossing location.
The crossing is obviously best done during low flow conditions, approximately late June to early Sept when you may be able to cross without getting your feet wet. But you may be able to cross after extended periods without rain. Strapped sandals or water shoes are advised.
The approach should take you 5 minutes or less.
