Description:
A fun little crag tucked in a hidden little valley just beyond the road. Short routes on Basaltic Andesite with lots of incuts. Some sharp broken rock but it’s cleaned up well. The steep Bat Wall has some fun pumpy routes and the loungy atmosphere makes for a nice little crag close to Nelson. It’s south facing, snowy early spring and buggy early summer. The prime season is late summer/fall. Super close and easily combined with the Hall Siding crag across the road. Thanks to Shaun King for the development of the area! All of the FA's are credited to S.King in 2011.
Directions:
View on MapFrom Nelson head up the hill on Highway 6 south towards Salmo. You will pass the turnoff to Whitewater at 11.6kms, keep driving and after a few minutes you will end up at a big straight stretch of road. At the end of this straight strectch you will see the Hall Siding Crag on your right at about 18kms. Pass this crag and drive another 500m to a sneaky pullout on an old skid road below the highway on your left (east). Walk back up the powerline cut road (north) to a little uphill jaunt and a rock cairn on your right. Head into the forest on a nice climbers trail down to the crag. A total of about 3-5 minutes from the car and 20 minutes from Nelson/45 minutes from Castlegar
