The Tonquin Boulder is a large glacial erratic found 15 minutes south of Jasper. It is located in the lush Tonquin valley next to the Astoria river and is a world class Boulder with a variety of problems which is definitely worth a weekend trip.
Take highway 93 North as if you were going to Marmot basin, follow the sign for Marmot basin and turn left on the 93a. Now drive past the next Marmot Basin turnoff and after a bit you will cross a bridge and there will be a large parking area immediately after on your left. Park. Walk across the road and take the path for Tonquin Valley. After 50m veer right towards the river and you'll find yourself at the Tonquin boulders.
