Hayward Lake

5 Sport Climbs, 3 Trad Climbs

Description:

As derived from The Fraser Valley Climbing Guide by John Valecko & Jasper Fast:

'This wall faces south, but is in the trees all day making it a great crag to visit on a warm day. The crag dries very quickly, and there are 2 routes which stay dry in the rain. The rock type is granite with diorite inclusions, creating veins in the rock. There are a few trad routes, and a few sport routes. A single rack .3-3, 12 draws, and a 60m rope works great for all of the routes.'

9 routes total:
- 3 trad
- 6 sport
- Nice hike (10min)
- Fast drying
- Shaded

'Drive north along 287th Street from Lougheed Hwy. Take a left on Matheson Ave, drive for a few hundred meters and look for a yellow gate on the right. Park here making sure NOT to block the gate. Walk over the gate, and walk along the gravel road for a few minutes until the road takes a hard right tur. Go left onto a path then keep right onto a path labelled BDR. Walk for a few meters, and turn left onto a trail labelled OUT. Follow this trail for 10-15 minutes. You will pass one path that heads right. Keep walking straight passing an obvious large boulder on your left. After another minute you will see a faint trail to the right, and you will see the cliff. Walk along this path to the base, about 100m.'
