Along the Sunshine Coast Highway, about 200 meters south of the Halfmoon Bay turnoff (RedRooffs Rd), turn east onto Trout Lake Road. Set your odometer to zero at the turnoff. All distances described are relative to this point. At 1.8 km, stay left at fork in road. At 3.3 km, turn right onto Halfmoon Carlson FSR Branch 2. At 5.6 km stay right (straight) at intersection. At the 7.3 km mark, take a small logging spur on the right, up a hill into a slash. There is a major intersection in the logging road only 50 meters past this spur, if you come to it you’ve gone too far. Drive up this spur for 400 meters and park where it ends. An obvious trail extends from the end of the spur. A new DeSoto sign will confirm you are on track. Follow this trail for about 2 minutes to a trail intersection. At this fork take the right branch (intersection of Over Easy and Desoto mbx trails, look for signs). Almost immediately take another right turn and head straight uphill. A sign at this trail junction says Desoto Rock. Hike 1 minute uphill and the crag will be obvious.
