Waimea Bay. A small but fun collection of beach bouldering exists at the famous surf spot. You need those two things. The climbing here is a perfect for beginners. Most of the problems are between VB - V4, but what really makes it special is the fact that you usually don't need a crash pad either. The sand, when it's deep, can be a very safe landing. That said, almost everything is highball (25' in some parts), and the sand can fluctuate as much as six feet in a day from large surf. Falls can be big and exposed rock is common. People can and do get hurt. Waimea Bay bouldering goes back maybe 30+ years. There's a history here, a lot more than can be covered in the few paragraphs of this short description.

The crag is located south east of Chai Wan on Hong Kong Island. The cliffs face a variety of directions therefore it is possible to remain in the sun or the shade throughout the day. Aside from Bunker Wall, which is non-tidal, access to the main cliff (The Beach) is affected by the tide. The special ops cave on the main cliff is cut off at high tide and whilst the main cliff can be escaped from, by using the hand-line, your choice of routes will be limited. The Zawn is only affected by isolated high tides at certain times of the year however climbing is still possible on the non tidal area below the access point. Tide times and heights can be easily checked at The Hong Kong Observatory – select tide predictions for Quarry Bay. Cape Collinson will appeal to the broader climbing community as the majority of routes are in the low to mid F6s with a handful of routes in the mid to upper F7s. The area and the climbing have an adventurous aspect and attention is drawn to the fact that as a new climbing area, small amounts of loose rock may be encountered. Climbers and anyone else in the vicinity of a climbing area are recommended to wear helmets. Routes have been equipped with safety and convenience in mind to ensure that climbers will enjoy the area and can attempt harder routes without needing to abandon gear should it not be possible to gain the anchors. Routes are equipped to prevent the creation of dangerous run outs between bolts that could contribute to a ground fall. Additionally the intention is to provide another climbing area in Hong Kong which has routes suitable for climbers learning to lead.

This land has many cultural and environmental values and is a special place for Aboriginal people. The Dhagun Yumba Aboriginal Corporation has been appointed as trustee for the land and asks that you respect the cultural significance of the area by not entering and climbing on the land. It requires anyone who carries out a land use activity to exercise a duty of care. Fines of up to $133,450 for an individual and $1,334,500 for a corporation apply for causing unlawful harm to Aboriginal cultural heritage or for breaching the duty of care may apply. This is a delightful shaded little box canyon that lies 30m beyond where the trail heads right up to the rising wall for Morning Side Crag from the creek drainage. The small venue is named after a very “BIG” spider and it’s web that were hanging out back in 2016 just left of what Andy Genereux thought would to be the first climb established at this newer venue. Turned out the route might actually one of the oldest climbs at the Moose Mountain Crags? During the early fall of 2016 the first four routes were established by Andy. Initially out of the gate, was the obvious water polished groove, done on lead with a power drill via rope soloing techniques. The line climbs the right side of the obvious polished water chute. It’s called Itsy Bitsy Spider. According to Allan Derbyshire this climb was actually first climbed on marginal trad gear (graded 5.8, “old school” with a possible ground fall potential) back in the late seventies. There was a lone badly hand-drilled self drive bolt with a homemade hanger at the belay (still in place). Andy thought this ugly badly drilled bolt was a residual anchor leftover from passing ice climbers. Allan also mentioned that the wide moss covered chimney/crack on the left side of the bay was also climbed on gear to reach a two piton anchor at roughly 30m, located below a small roof. Details on this line are few but this wide crack line for now is called Trad Special and is included for a more complete picture of the available climbing at this venue. If this wide gapping dirty crack/chimney appeals then bring a well stocked trad-rack. The remaining climbs established at this venue all went in top down requiring extensive cleaning. The routes were then rope soloed by Genereux while building these lines over two seasons at Spider Brook. All the routes at Spider Brook are located in a shady mostly north facing recessed pocket for much of the year this shady sector sees virtually no direct sunlight. This makes for a good venue to avoid the heat of mid-summer. It houses some nice moderate climbing and is a great place to hang out if one is waiting for the nearby east facing Morning Side Crag to come into shade on blistering hot summer mornings. This is usually around 1:30 pm.

This is the highest peak in sight with an elevation of nearly 2500 m. This prominent feature towers high above the city of Tanomah. The summit offers a spectacular 360° view of the area. On its western Á ank, the peak takes a prominent place on the escarpment separating the plateau from the plains. The mountain exposes two perpendicular cliffs about 180 m in height: the east and south face. These make the rock look like an opened book, which is why Jebel Jalala is also called Al Qitab by the locals, meaning The Book. This area was first climbed by Bernie Caddey and others in the 1990’s. Approximately 30 m to the right of the chimney, you can still a line of old anchors from those days which are not recommend for use. First and foremost, a word of acknowledgment to the climbing community of Saudi Arabia. Although climbing is a new sport in the kingdom, it is rapidly growing in numbers. Its enthusiasm and thirst for climbing is nothing short of contagious, having motivated the authors of this guide to further explore new vertical worlds. One of Skaha's most popular walls is a soaring sweep of orange-streaked gneiss that rises above a jumble of large boulders. The flanks of this crag host a decent collection of quality 5.10-5.11 sport climbs, but the real prize is the central wall, a sector lush with intricate and physical 5.12-5.13 lines that stretch up to 25 metres or more. Oddly, the lowest layer of this wall is crumbly kitty litter, but the routes work around it and it doesn't seem to diminish their quality. The base of Doctors' Wall is a popular place to lounge and, on most any weekend, you'll have to trade burns on your project with a variety of climbers. For those looking for friendly moderates, check out the nice collection of short sport climbs in the Fern Gully boulders below the amin wall. There's something here for everyone... Conditions: Doctors' Wall faces due east and gets blasted by the morning sun, which is great in the cold weather. The pitches between the boulders in Fern Gully stay much cooler and get limited sunshine, some not all. It's possible to climb a number of routes here in light rain since the crag overhangs and there are "rain" anchors below the upper slabs. Use the photo topo to see which pitches work best.

It is in the noon-day sun so it can get real hot, but a nice place to boulder close to town. Originally thought to be chossy, but I disagree. Not as popular as Lone Boulder or Head Cut Off Cliff, but you should check it out for yourself!

Indian Creek contains countless miles of wingate walls, but from a broader view these wall are all rather non-descript. The real landmarks in Indian Creek are the towers... When driving into the area, the first group of towers that one comes to are the obvious Bridger Jack Mesa and its associated towers. This compact area offers a relatively moderate approach and several quality short summit routes. - Mountain Project

Real name is Lakeview Wall. Small low-traffic crag above Toad Hall. Shady during the day.

The Upper Deck sits above The Step, where the wall is split by a ~15 foot wide ledge. The wall features many cool water features including some real tufas! Be mindful about knocking down rocks to the trail below.

Create your own boulders, but for some suggestions the following info was provided by the manufacturer/installer OnSite. Suggested grades from OnSite. Perched on square cut bases that provide board-style starting feet, the blocks are taller than they first appear and overhang slightly on all sides. All three rocks are different forms of granite. The North-most one is large-crystal white granite with slopers that will have people calculating sun angles and wind speeds to figure out the best time for sending (just like the real Squam!) The middle boulder reminds me of bow valley rock with pockets of all sizes and blocky features for compressing. The south boulder climbs like Kelowna Gneiss with it's skin friendly and in cut crimps leading to a sharp rail perfect for Dyno variations and the accompanying flapper potential. The physical closeness of all of these rock styles creates a very interesting comparison. To be able to feel the difference in style that the rock textures induce, and go between them while the sensation is still fresh in your fingers is extremely cool.
