  marcus norman:   After the pillar fell off this crux changes remarkably- for the better. It’s now higher and requires some funky body positions. Stay left of the bolt line to avoid loose blocks on the right after the crux. Avoid stepping on blocks out left clipping the chains.

  Jason Adam:   Old beta (2018, 12c original): Cruise down low until you reach a beta- and core-intensive crux, which just feels nasty with bad beta. A dozen harder moves gets you to a lieback clip and the start of arete humping and jug hauling.

  I really like the movement and sequences on this route but man does it feel like most of the hand and foot holds are going to break at any given moment. Without all the choss I'd give it 4 or 5 stars. Still worth doing for sure, really unique (and fun) crux!

  Another updated comment (fall 2021, 11c variation): I think the climb is in its final state. The murderous flake is gone. The choss toss at mid-height is gone. And the blocks out left at the anchor are gone. Big thanks to Mason and Marcus for cleaning it up. It is a better route now. No doubt. Updated comment (spring 2021, 11d variation): Climbs safer than the original (no death pillar) but still has a scary jug midway. It is a shame you can skip the crux by climbing choss jugs out right. Maybe the original crux will be back one day... it is Apocalypse. Original comment (2018, 12c original): Stoked to finally send this little blue van! So many beta variants. So many failed variants. Minus one star for the eary hollow sound the arete makes when you touch it. Plus one star for the sweet clipping positions.
