Description:

Steppes is a large area with interesting features and a good view of Nanaimo. Its a small gorge with large boulders in the center.

DO NOT PARK on Tonnerre Way. It is a private drive and you may be towed. Park at the bottom of the hill on Halsall Terrace. Walk up Tonnerre Way for 50 meters and watch for a flagged trail going up the steep gravel bank and into the forest. Follow this well worn trail uphill for 300 meters until it emerges onto a gravel road. Turn right onto the road and follow it as it curves left, and up and down a couple rises. After about 400 meters on this road, watch for a trail on your right with a sign denoting the crag. Follow this side trail for 100 meters and the crag will appear on your left.
